Software Used: Paintshop Pro 2023. Any program with a basic copy and paste will work.
Before we begin, something you are going to be doing with every single image after you resize and place the image where you want. You are going to want to sharpen the image (because it can get blurry when you resize it) and you will want to add drop shadows (to sort of illuminate the image so it shows up better).
To sharpen an image you choose the Adjust Menu. Scroll down to Sharpness then choose Sharpen. It's that simple!
To apply drop shadows you choose the Effects Menu. Scroll down to 3D Effects and then choose Drop Shadow. This will bring up a window. For the effects you are going to choose: Vertical -1 Horizontal -5 Opacity 50 and Blur 5. For the color you are going to choose black. Then click 'Ok.'
To resize an image, I simply use the pick tool. It's the same tool you use to move objects around your canvas. You open the image, click on the pick arrow on the top left size menu. (It looks like an arrow). Then at the top you are going to make sure you have the 'scale' option selected. This makes it quick and easy to resize your images how small or large you want simply by dragging them at the corners.
Before you begin, you should also be aware that you will have to look at my completed image often to see where to place images and objects inside your tag. So, look at my finished image in reference of where to place elements.
Directions:
1. Open paper number 6. Resize it. Image Tab, then Resize. Change the Length and the Width to 800. Click 'Ok.'
2. Open Mask 006. Switch back to the paper image you just resized. Layers Tab, then New Mask Layer, then From Image. A box will pop up. You simply click the down arrow menu and choose mask 006 and then click 'Ok.' Then Right Click - Duplicate to darken the paper.
3. Open Element 43. Edit - Copy. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
4. Open Element 9. Edit - Copy. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
5. Open Element 126. Edit - Copy. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
6. Open Element 93. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
7. Open Element 8. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
8. Open Element 132. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
9. Open Element 86. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
10. Open Element 103. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
11. Open Element 144. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
12. Open Element 28. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
13. Open Element 26. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
14. Open the tube of your choice (you can choose the one I used or one of your own choice). Open your tube image. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Close the original image.
15. Open Element 63. Go to to your working canvas (where your paper is) then Edit - Paste. Resize it. Place it where you want it to be. Sharpen. Then Drop Shadow. Then you are going to Right Click on the image (still at your working canvas where you just placed it). When the drop down menu comes up, click Duplicate. Then you are going to place the duplicated image. Do this one more time.
16. You will notice that the banner is actually placed in front of the picture on the mantel. This doesn't look right. So, right click again. From the drop down menu you are going to choose 'Move Down.' Do this sevearl more times until the banner actually moves behind the fireplace. It may take multiple times to send the image back that far. Once that is complete, close the original image.
17. At this point, all of our elements are added. So, go to the Layers Tab. In the drop down menu, click on Merge, and then Merge Visible. This will flatten the collage into one image but keep the background transparent.
18. Use the text tool to add proper credits to your tag. This is the copyrights, tag license, websites, etc.
19. Then use the text tool to add your signature to the tag.
20. Go to the Layers Tab. In the drop down menu, click on Merge, and then Merge Visible. This will flatten the collage into one image but keep the background transparent.
21. Remember to save the image as a PNG image so the background remains transparent.
